Guided bone and tissue regeneration
Traditionally, gum disease has been treated by trimming infected tissue and smoothing roughened bone. Although this is still an effective way of treatment, some patients may qualify for this minimally invasive, conservative treatment approach.
This procedure may be used to stabilize weak teeth or endangered implants.
What To Expect
Dr. Dempsey will remove the bacteria and clean the roots of the teeth. Once a favorable environment has been created, donor bone graft material will be added to rebuild the bone that was lost from the disease. Your body will recognize this bone graft, move to strengthen it and eventually take it all the way over to replace it with your own bone. A membrane that acts as a Band-Aid will be placed over the bone graft to ensure that you heal as quickly and comfortably as possible.
